On this plate: four varieties of dosa, with four types of chutney. Lucky enough to taste dosa four ways in a single attempt — four different chutneys — and that too at the price of one dosa.
Sometimes life and its incidents arrive the same way. An opportunity shows up that looks ordinary on the menu, until you notice what it actually offers. Then it’s up to us — to choose that item, the way we choose from a restaurant menu. Grabbing it is a choice. Walking past it is also a choice.
If we don’t choose it, nothing dramatic changes in regular life. We still pay for one dosa and taste a single dosa. Fine. Familiar. Enough for many days.
But if we opt for this kind of plate, we get more from the same span of time — multiple tastes at one price, more benefit from the life we’re already living. The cost on the bill may look the same; the experience doesn’t.
So when that kind of opportunity lies in front of us, I want to be prepared to taste it in full. Not because every day will look like four dosas and four chutneys — but because when the menu offers it, saying yes can turn one meal into many.
